Diocesan Day - Saturday 8 October

Front Page iageOver 400 people gathered at Bradford Grammar School for the 6th Diocesan Day and enjoyed a feast of worship, fellowship and teaching.

People came from all corners of the Diocese and many spoke of the encouragment they got from being part of a large gathering.  As one participant later said, "The fellowship was wonderful.  I was delighted with the seminars, both were excellent, and Bishop Nicks's address was much appreciated.  The worship was again a highlight of the day".

Speakers included Alan Billings, Anne Cryer, David Lee and Paul Slater.  The Exhibition featured two Bookstalls and presentations from a variety of charities and organisations.  There were children's groups led by an experienced team from St John's, Thorpe Edge and a small army of volunteers made sure that all the practical jobs were done with a smile.  The worship this year was led by just one man, Philip Jakob the Musical Director for the Cathedral and Diocese of Hallam and he led us with a light but sure touch in a range of musical styles.

The future?  It seems likely that we will return to our normal slot of late April/early May - the change to October was simply to ensure that our new Bishop was amongst us.  This being the case there is unlikely to be a Diocesan Day in 2012 but there will be one in 2013.  Watch this space!
