Unsung heroes!

A day for the unsung heroes!

A recent training day for Parish Administrators was very much appreciated by the 27 people who attended.  This small but growing band of people often make the difference between parish clergy sinking under the growing burden of admin or finding the time to exercise their true calling as pastors, priests and ministers of the Word.

John Truscott formerly of Scripture Union and Administry led the day superbly and helped those present think about their role and their distinctive contribution to the mission of the Church.  Alice Hamar, Parish Administrator at Menston felt it was a very worthwhile investment of her time. “It was a very useful meeting for me, not least because of building a network with those working locally. Particularly good was the chance to think through aspects of the task not just related to doing the immediate jobs on the desk!  John Truscott's knowledgeable leadership was ideal for the occasion”.

This was the first training event of its kind (or at least the first for a very long time) and the Training Officer would be happy to hear from others who would be interested if the day was repeated in a year or two.   Similarly, he would be happy to discuss other training needs arising from the parish - the idea for this particular day came from one of our partish clergy.
