New Honorary Ecumenical Canon

The Revd Sarah Jemison has been appointed as an Honorary Ecumenical Canon of Bradford Cathedral.

Sarah is a Methodist Minister with pastoral charge of Wrose and Crag Road Methodist Churches along with Christ Church, Windhill - an Anglican/Methodist Local Ecumenical Parntership.

Sarah has been appointed because of her contribution to ecumenical relations, including being a key player in the development of the Windhill LEP.

She says, "This is a great surprise and honour. It feels like a real recognition and affirmation of the ecumenical and community work we've done in Windhill".

Sarah came to Shipley in 1997 as a Probationer, with pastoral charge of Saltaire Methodist Church and Christchurch, Windhill LEP working alongside the Vicar, the Revd Geoff Percival, until he resigned.

She has worked in education in Bradford, Keighley, Zimbabwe and Tanzania, as a layworker at Touchstone and as a community development worker at the Hutson Street Project (where she was employed by the Bradford Diocese).

She says she finds great fulfilment in creative worship and activity, spiritual direction and engagement with local communities.

Sarah is married to John and has two grown up sons, Tom and Luke.

The installation service will take place on Sunday 22 November at 4.00pm at Bradford Cathedral.
