The Diocesan Logo and Identity (shown on the front cover) aims to represent the history, geography and culture of the area covered by the Diocese; makes a statement about the Diocese’s mission and incorporates the Church of England Logo.

The colours used in the identity are:

Blue for the rivers and streams that run through the Diocese and originally gave life to the valley in which the City is built
Green representing the valleys and hills of the rural areas of the Diocese.
Grey for the stone that built much of the City and towns, and the limestone walls.
Purple a colour of royalty to represent Christ the King and also the colour that traditionally represents a Bishop.
Orange the colour of hope for the future. Orange is often used to signify growth and movement.

A key element of the Identity is ‘Future Faithful”. Two words that state the Diocese’s faithfulness to the core beliefs of the Christian faith and its moving forward into the future with God. The words are linked by the cross.

The “Diocesan Collection” of clothing and umbrellas with the Logo and Identity can be ordered from the Diocesan Resources Centre
