What we do
A working group meets monthly, to manage the link and liaison with Lambeth Palace and other partners.
-
Collect funds, helping the Sudanese church accomplish what it tells us are its projects and priorities. Parish giving for Sudan General Fund is about £6,000 a year. All money given by parishes goes to Sudan, as other expenses are paid for from our own Diocesan funds.
Plans for the Future
-
Assist the Episcopal Church in Sudan in whatever way possible, by keeping in close touch with them, passing on news, maintaining a prayer focus, arranging visits, gathering funding, and encouraging learning from our partnership experiences.
-
Raise the profile of the link in our Diocese, including celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2013 in a way that claims and informs our Diocesan prayer life, towards deepening our understanding of our faith.
-
Develop support for the Episcopal Church in Sudan by working with other agencies and church leaders in Sudan, and liaising with other agencies supporting the church in Sudan including Lambeth, Diocese of Salisbury, Sudan Church Association, Christian Aid, TEAR Fund and the Bible Society.
